Dog in the Fog is saturated with color throughout the book. It captures the child’s attention while the font size draws him in to the story. Sue Graves and Jan Smith help your child learn how to read by repeating familiar sounding words and combining them with colorful graphics.
Pointing to each word as I read aloud to my nephew, followed by pointing to the item that the word represented, helped him learn words through association. It gave even a two-year old an opportunity to point to the frog and know that it is a frog. Eventually, he will learn to read the word frog and know that the word belongs to the pictured frog.
Dog in the Fog is a wonderful book to start teaching a child to read. And, I recommend it for every parent to include it in their child’s library.
