Wow… What a month!
Allow me to pause a moment in the middle of this deep freeze and magnificent snow to refuel and share with you my writing journey so far.
It seems that since the holidays, I have not stopped working on the details of my book launch. I ran a couple of ads through Facebook with satisfying success in numbers to both my page and website. I now have over 1K in followers on Facebook, and I am thrilled to finally reach this milestone. I wanted to give a big shout-out to all of you. It is because of you that I write, and I thank you for your continuous support, love, and guidance!
I had a little hiccup with my debut novel early on in January. Since I am self-publishing, I discovered that there is a learning curve in every step I take. Fear not, my friends. I am moving full steam ahead regardless.
Lesson #1: Purchase your ISBNs before you upload your novel to the publisher, or use their free ISBN and lose some control over your work.
Lesson #2: Pivot during a hiccup and move on.
After finishing my Work Plan’s timeline for the year and checking off completed tasks, there was some bonus time available to me due to my little hiccup. Thankfully, I had already created a contingency window of time for such delays. So I pivoted and applied for my copyright while conducting a final review of my book before I committed to uploading it for publication. I discovered a few paragraphing and transition issues that even the finest editor and editing apps missed. The book is now a very powerful and easy read, and I feel confident that my readers will feel the same.
Since I plan events at my day job, I have been itching to get my book launch party started. I had a vision and decided to reach out to my local library. The response I received from both the library and the venue gave me such overwhelming joy that I’m afraid I have been a bit of a chatterbox last month. However, the good news is that the date and place of my launch party is set. Save the date for Grandfather’s Whispers Book Launch Party on August 22, 2024. Details will follow or subscribe to my newsletter to get VIP access to early registration.
Looking ahead, I expect to receive my author copy this month after I approve the e-proof of my book. Then, I will order my ARC copies next month and schedule a giveaway on Goodreads for April. If you would like to put your name in for the giveaway drawing, sign up to Goodreads and follow me!
In the meantime, happy reading!
